Responsibilities
- Develop, design, test, maintain, and enhance Aclara software solutions.
- Analyze software requirements and determine feasibility and implementation strategies.
- Develop reliable software applications using Java, C#, and other object-oriented technologies.
- Design and implement Linux/Unix user-space services for telemetry collection and protocol adapters.
- Build and integrate communication stacks using RESTful APIs.
- Implement authentication and authorization, secure transport, and credential handling.
- Develop unit and integration tests, API validation, and build/test automation for embedded and edge components.
- Develop software frameworks, design patterns, and engineering best practices.
- Respond to customer escalations, maintain existing code, and refactor software for reliability.
- Document code, modifications, and issue resolutions, and present application solution architecture when needed.
- Collaborate with quality assurance, documentation, and cross-functional teams.
- Escalate issues, recommend mitigations, and help ensure project deadlines are met.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for products and services in support of business development.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of progressive experience as a Software Engineer or in a related role.
- At least 5 years of experience with object-oriented software development, web application development, and REST services.
- At least 5 years of experience working in Linux/Unix environments.
- At least 5 years of experience with application frameworks such as Spring or Hibernate.
- At least 5 years of experience with databases such as SQLServer, MySQL, or similar.
- At least 5 years of experience with Java or C#, MVC, JDBC, RESTful technologies, GUI frameworks, and Java concurrency patterns.
- At least 2 years of utility domain experience.
- At least 2 years of experience with IoT protocols such as MQTT, CoAP, or HTTP and edge communication technologies.
- At least 2 years of experience with telemetry/event pipelines using tools such as Kafka or equivalent.
- Ability to work with minimal guidance and collaborate effectively across functions.
