Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate secure, resilient, and scalable Microsoft Azure infrastructure.
- Establish engineering standards, reference architectures, guardrails, reusable platform services, and operational procedures.
- Lead infrastructure and software delivery automation using GitLab, Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform, and related platform-engineering practices.
- Own complex technical designs, implementations, operational issues, risk management, and transition into operational service.
- Partner with architects and development teams on cloud adoption, migration planning, deployment automation, and application modernisation.
- Embed security, resilience, compliance, monitoring, and performance considerations into platform design and delivery.
- Support incident and problem resolution, change planning, capacity management, performance improvement, stakeholder communication, and technology evaluation.
- Contribute to technical reviews, knowledge sharing, team capability development, architecture documentation, standards, runbooks, and implementation guides.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a senior platform, infrastructure, or cloud engineering role, ideally in financial services or another highly regulated environment.
- Strong hands-on experience designing, building, and operating Microsoft Azure environments, including compute, networking, storage, identity, access management, security, governance, and resilience.
- Experience designing and improving CI/CD pipelines using GitLab or comparable tooling.
- Practical experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, GitOps principles, and declarative configuration.
- Proven experience using Terraform to provision and manage cloud or on-premise infrastructure and develop reusable infrastructure-as-code patterns.
- Experience implementing or operating monitoring, logging, and observability capabilities using Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, or equivalent tools.
- Strong scripting and automation capability with PowerShell, Bash, or similar languages, plus proficiency in Python or Go.
- Ability to write, maintain, and review automation, integration, tooling, and application-support code, including YAML-based automation.
- Experience with Agile delivery environments and collaboration tooling such as Jira and Confluence.
- Strong technical communication, stakeholder-management, documentation, prioritisation, teamwork, and delivery skills.
