Base Salary
$200k - $300k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and improve backend systems including REST APIs, microservices, data ingestion and processing systems, and distributed task or job processing systems.
- Write and maintain scalable, performant, secure, and reusable code.
- Contribute to product development, core backend systems, engineering standards, tooling, processes, and security improvements.
- Debug production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack.
- Participate in on-call rotations to resolve critical technical issues.
- Apply OWASP Top 10 techniques and information-asset protection policies to secure systems and report suspected security or policy violations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience building web applications.
- Experience implementing highly available distributed systems and microservices.
- Experience delivering scalable backend APIs.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a bias toward action.
- Preferred: master’s degree or PhD in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field.
- Preferred: hands-on technical leadership, project-team leadership, technical-direction setting, and experience solving ambiguous problems with significant impact.
- Interest and ability to learn additional programming languages.
