Base Salary
$108k - $135k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, document, and deploy backend services and APIs.
- Participate in on-call rotations and investigate and resolve production issues.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to deliver backend features and enhancements.
- Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, architectural reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Learn the team’s systems, platform architecture, and customer use cases while maintaining high-quality systems.
- Stay current with backend technologies, tools, and engineering best practices.
- Travel occasionally to Fanatics Betting & Gaming offices or industry events for collaboration and team-building.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of professional industry experience in a fast-paced or high-growth environment.
- Proficiency building backend systems with Java and Spring Framework or similar technologies.
- Advanced understanding of RESTful API design, microservices architecture, and object-oriented programming.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills, including the ability to investigate unfamiliar systems independently.
- Experience working in production environments and resolving real-time issues.
- Familiarity with relational or NoSQL databases and foundational data modeling concepts.
- Strong communication, collaboration, coachability, and willingness to grow.
- Comfort using AI tools to accelerate development workflows.
- Preferred: familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, AWS or other cloud platforms, modern DevOps practices, distributed architectures, performance optimization, and Datadog or other observability tools.
- Preferred: experience in fast-paced, high-growth, or startup-like environments.
