Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end delivery of features across Java backend services, APIs, React UI, batch processing, and external integrations.
- Architect and review solutions in a large Maven multi-module Java/Spring enterprise application.
- Modernize legacy server-rendered UI, APIs, batch jobs, cloud operations, and developer experience.
- Own or partner on AWS deployment and reliability for containerized Tomcat services, including secrets and observability.
- Mentor engineers, establish coding standards, lead design reviews, and improve CI/CD and release quality.
- Diagnose production issues across application, database, and infrastructure layers while strengthening monitoring and runbooks.
- Partner with product stakeholders on external integrations and optionally contribute to AI-agent workflow initiatives.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- At least 2 years in a lead, staff, or tech-lead capacity.
- Deep hands-on Java experience, including Java 8+ and large enterprise codebases.
- Strong experience with Spring MVC, Spring Security, Spring Batch, SOAP/REST, Hibernate/JPA, relational data modeling, SQL, and MySQL.
- Experience with Maven multi-module builds and Tomcat or similar Java application servers.
- Proven production AWS experience, ideally including ECS/Fargate, ECR, ALB, Secrets Manager, SSM, S3, CloudWatch, and infrastructure as code.
- Experience modernizing or maintaining legacy enterprise systems while delivering incremental improvements safely.
- Strong design, debugging, communication, and technical leadership skills.
- React or similar single-page application experience, including Vite, Redux/RTK, or Material UI, is preferred.
- Experience with Datadog, structured logging, APM, on-call practices, Docker, Jenkins, CodePipeline/CodeBuild, CodeArtifact/Nexus, or AI-agent development is preferred.
