Responsibilities

  • Shape application architectures aligned with enterprise and solution-level standards.
  • Translate business and non-functional requirements into pragmatic architectural designs.
  • Review significant technical design decisions and guide engineering teams on application architecture.
  • Design AWS-hosted cloud-native applications with appropriate resilience, security, operability, scalability, and cost characteristics.
  • Ensure observability, supportability, deployment, performance, and maintainability are considered in designs.
  • Collaborate with solution architects, product owners, engineering teams, and other stakeholders to evaluate trade-offs.
  • Act as a technical point of reference and influence decisions through expertise rather than formal authority.
  • Contribute to architectural roadmaps, platform evolution, proofs of concept, and continuous improvement of architectural practices and standards.

Requirements

  • Experience as an application architect or in a senior engineering role working with distributed systems.
  • Strong understanding of application design, API design, and data modelling.
  • Production experience with Java and/or Python.
  • Practical experience designing and operating AWS-based applications in cloud-native environments.
  • Working knowledge of containerized architectures, messaging patterns, and distributed data stores.
  • Understanding of infrastructure-as-code concepts and modern CI/CD practices.
  • Knowledge of security, authentication, authorization, observability, performance, scalability, and resilience engineering.
  • Deeper exposure to event-driven architectures and asynchronous messaging at scale.
  • Experience optimizing performance, resilience, and cost in production cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with modern front-end architectures and integration patterns.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Experience in financial services, risk, compliance, or other regulated environments is desirable but not essential.
