Responsibilities
- Shape application architectures aligned with enterprise and solution-level standards.
- Translate business and non-functional requirements into pragmatic architectural designs.
- Review significant technical design decisions and guide engineering teams on application architecture.
- Design AWS-hosted cloud-native applications with appropriate resilience, security, operability, scalability, and cost characteristics.
- Ensure observability, supportability, deployment, performance, and maintainability are considered in designs.
- Collaborate with solution architects, product owners, engineering teams, and other stakeholders to evaluate trade-offs.
- Act as a technical point of reference and influence decisions through expertise rather than formal authority.
- Contribute to architectural roadmaps, platform evolution, proofs of concept, and continuous improvement of architectural practices and standards.
Requirements
- Experience as an application architect or in a senior engineering role working with distributed systems.
- Strong understanding of application design, API design, and data modelling.
- Production experience with Java and/or Python.
- Practical experience designing and operating AWS-based applications in cloud-native environments.
- Working knowledge of containerized architectures, messaging patterns, and distributed data stores.
- Understanding of infrastructure-as-code concepts and modern CI/CD practices.
- Knowledge of security, authentication, authorization, observability, performance, scalability, and resilience engineering.
- Deeper exposure to event-driven architectures and asynchronous messaging at scale.
- Experience optimizing performance, resilience, and cost in production cloud environments.
- Familiarity with modern front-end architectures and integration patterns.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience in financial services, risk, compliance, or other regulated environments is desirable but not essential.
