Responsibilities
- Build and ship backend features using Python, Django, GraphQL, Pydantic, Postgres, and Google Cloud.
- Own backend work from product and technical requirements through design, implementation, testing, deployment, launch, and iteration.
- Design and expose GraphQL APIs and work with RESTful APIs for frontend and internal applications.
- Contribute to backend architecture, API design, data modelling, performance, reliability, security, and developer experience.
- Collaborate with internal teams, frontend engineers, and external engineering partners on cross-team deliveries.
- Improve code quality, architecture, scalability, maintainability, and engineering practices.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience building backend systems with Python and practical experience with Django.
- Experience designing or consuming RESTful APIs and designing and exposing GraphQL APIs.
- Experience with Postgres and relational data models.
- Familiarity with Pydantic, typed Python, or modern Python engineering practices.
- Some cloud infrastructure experience, ideally with Google Cloud, or a strong desire to learn.
- Strong judgment in clean architecture, API design, performance, reliability, and maintainability.
- Product-minded ownership, accountability, ability to navigate ambiguity, and willingness to support others’ growth.
- Preferred: experience with PDF generation or document rendering, early-stage product teams, observability, monitoring, alerting, infrastructure operations, and data-driven decision-making.
