Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and delivery of observability platform components focused on reliability and scalability.
- Drive consistency and quality across observability signals like logs, metrics, and traces.
- Serve as a technical advisor and mentor across the platform organization.
- Deep dive into specific problem areas while ensuring horizontal scalability.
- Collaborate with product teams and SREs to understand telemetry needs.
- Design and build developer-friendly tooling and APIs for incident response and performance analysis.
- Champion a pragmatic approach to observability balancing performance, cost, and user value.
Requirements
- Proven expertise in building and scaling observability systems.
- Lead technical execution for major components of Twilio’s observability overhaul.
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language like Go, Python, or Java.
- Familiarity with high-cardinality data challenges and telemetry correlation techniques.
- Experience designing high-scale telemetry systems such as Prometheus or Kafka.
- Solid understanding of distributed systems and observability challenges.
- Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code tools.
- Ability to provide architectural guidance and lead through ambiguity.
