Responsibilities
- Design and implement core features of Apache Ozone and Apache Ratis.
- Contribute to the development of HDFS and distributed storage systems.
- Develop system software involving storage, networking, I/O subsystems, scalability, replication, consistency, and high availability.
- Identify performance bottlenecks and implement performance optimizations when needed.
- Contribute to open-source projects and collaborate through clear oral and written communication.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s, master’s, or Ph.D. in Computer Science.
- Relevant industry experience.
- Strong backend engineering skills with expertise in Java, or strong C++ skills with intermediate Java skills.
- Hands-on programming ability with knowledge of data structures and computer science algorithms.
- Experience with system software design and development and understanding of computer architecture, storage, network, and I/O subsystems.
- Preferred qualifications include large-scale distributed systems experience, distributed storage or file-system background, performance tuning, Apache Hadoop knowledge, open-source contributions, Hadoop ecosystem experience, and understanding of Paxos or RAFT.
