Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end architecture and solution design for large-scale data platforms and distributed systems.
- Design, build, and optimize batch, streaming, and analytical data pipelines and scalable data models.
- Drive technical decisions across data pipelines, storage, metadata, APIs, and service dependencies.
- Establish practices for data validation, quality, testing, monitoring, observability, failure recovery, and production readiness.
- Collaborate on backend service, API architecture, and data access patterns for analytics and reporting applications.
- Contribute hands-on through technical design, coding, troubleshooting, and code reviews.
- Lead design reviews, mentor engineers, establish engineering standards, and guide complex cross-team initiatives.
Requirements
- Demonstrated Staff-level technical judgment and experience independently designing and delivering complex production systems.
- Strong knowledge of data architecture, data modeling, distributed data processing, and analytical workloads.
- Hands-on experience developing and operating large-scale data pipelines.
- Strong SQL skills and proficiency in a programming language such as Python, Scala, or Java.
- Understanding of backend architecture, API design, data access patterns, and system performance.
- Experience with cloud data platforms, orchestration, storage design, and production operations.
- Strong understanding of data quality, validation, testing, monitoring, and failure recovery.
- Ability to evaluate technical trade-offs, lead design discussions, influence engineering decisions, and mentor engineers.
- Preferred experience with Apache Spark/PySpark, Dataproc, BigQuery, GCS, Airflow, Druid, Bigtable, Elasticsearch, Kafka, AI/ML data platforms, or retail media and advertising technology.
