Base Salary
$200k - $288k/yr
Responsibilities
- Pioneer new instrumentation capabilities in the OpenTelemetry community.
- Design and implement OTel Collector components and SDK instrumentation libraries.
- Collaborate with the OpenTelemetry open-source community through code contributions and discussions.
- Architect and own the Observe Agent, including its pipeline architecture and release strategy.
- Contribute to OpenTelemetry Semantic Conventions for standardized telemetry schemas.
- Translate customer instrumentation challenges into upstream contributions and product features.
- Represent Snowflake/Observe in the OTel community and present at conferences.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience with involvement in the OpenTelemetry ecosystem.
- Strong programming skills in Go and familiarity with at least one SDK language.
- Deep understanding of OTel's architecture and semantic conventions.
- Experience contributing to open-source projects with multi-vendor governance.
- Experience building cloud-native services with public cloud providers.
- A passion for open-source software and community engagement in observability.
- Strong opinions on instrumentation design and balancing coverage with performance.
