Responsibilities

  • Develop games and game-production tools in close collaboration with external customer teams.
  • Optimize customer games and solve challenging technical problems across diverse platforms.
  • Scope, estimate, and assist with planning customer projects and workstreams.
  • Collaborate with Unity’s internal development teams and provide customer feedback and production verification for future Unity features and services.
  • Debug and develop multithreaded C# or C++ code in large, multi-platform codebases.
  • Profile and optimize CPU, GPU, and memory usage with Unity Profiler, Frame Debugger, and RenderDoc.
  • Visit customers for consultations, provide technical advice, educate stakeholders, and communicate project progress.
  • Mentor less experienced developers and contribute to technical documentation and cross-departmental problem-solving.

Requirements

  • Experience across a variety of game projects and platforms, including experience shipping and maintaining titles for mobile, PC, or console.
  • Ability to adapt to customer production environments, take over workstreams when needed, and work independently with limited direction.
  • Understanding of technical challenges in complex game development environments and ability to plan, coordinate, and deliver work effectively.
  • Ability to develop and debug multithreaded C# or C++ code using a multi-platform engine such as Unity, Unreal, or an in-house engine.
  • Deep expertise in the Unity ecosystem, including C#, ScriptableObjects, Addressables, Unity Lifecycle, and modern render pipelines such as URP and HDRP.
  • Proven ability to profile and optimize CPU, GPU, and memory performance using Unity Profiler, Frame Debugger, and RenderDoc.
  • Ability to translate complex technical topics for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate technical ideas and guidance in written and spoken Japanese, with sufficient English for professional exchanges with global colleagues and partners.
  • Proactive mentoring, technical documentation, cross-departmental collaboration, and customer-facing communication skills.
  • Experience or strong interest in DOTS, ECS, and the C# Job System is preferred.
  • Production experience with Git or Perforce, technical training or talks, technical article writing, and awareness of AI/ML workflows are preferred.
