Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable, reliable backend and distributed data systems for large-scale processing.
- Drive technical architecture, system dependency analysis, and engineering direction across backend services, data platforms, storage, and processing systems.
- Translate product and data requirements into scalable technical designs and integration strategies with stakeholders and engineering teams.
- Develop, debug, optimize, and evolve production systems for throughput, latency, scalability, reliability, maintainability, and cost efficiency.
- Improve live-site reliability through monitoring, observability, capacity planning, fault tolerance, performance improvements, and operational practices.
- Lead complex technical investigations and production incidents across engineering teams and stakeholders.
- Mentor engineers and promote engineering and data engineering best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
- Strong computer science fundamentals, problem-solving skills, and understanding of software engineering principles.
- Demonstrated backend or full-stack software engineering experience.
- Experience designing and building scalable distributed systems, high-throughput services, telemetry systems, and large-scale data processing solutions.
- Preferred: master's degree with 6+ years of experience, or bachelor's degree with 8+ years of experience, or equivalent experience.
- Preferred: experience with cloud technologies, Kubernetes, cloud-native architectures, and large-scale data pipelines, data platforms, storage, or distributed data processing.
