Responsibilities
- Define and influence the direction of a small Command and Control Software team using subject-matter expertise in path planning and route optimization.
- Prototype and deploy algorithms for global and local path planning, trajectory optimization, and multi-agent coordination.
- Develop high-performance real-time command-and-control software for mission-planning tools, autonomous tasking, and fleet routing services.
- Design planners, search algorithms, and decision-making systems that produce safe, feasible, and optimal routes in dynamic and contested environments.
- Analyze system performance with high-fidelity simulations, modeling tools, and statistical techniques across mission scenarios.
- Customize algorithms and software for collaborative autonomy, asset routing, obstacle avoidance, and threat avoidance use cases.
- Integrate path-planning technologies into the command-and-control software stack and lifecycle from requirements through testing and optimization.
- Communicate technical progress and actionable insights to colleagues, operators, stakeholders, and end users.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in algorithm design, software development, and mathematical modeling.
- Programming expertise in C, C++, Python, and Matlab.
- Strong knowledge of graph-based, sampling-based, lattice-based, and grid-based path-planning techniques.
- Experience with guidance, navigation, and control; trajectory optimization; or predictive models for vehicle dynamics and weapon-system effectiveness.
- Understanding of linear algebra, optimization, computational geometry, graph theory, vehicle dynamics, kinematic constraints, and control theory.
- Familiarity with map representations, terrain reasoning, large-scale geospatial and environmental data, and distributed command-and-control architectures.
- Background in machine learning for planning and decision-making, including reinforcement learning, learned heuristics, and behavior prediction.
- Ability to engineer robust planning systems for uncertainty, multi-agent coordination, and complex dynamic environments.
- Experience across the development lifecycle from prototyping through production optimization.
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
