Responsibilities
- Define and influence the direction of a small team within the Command and Control Software organization using path-planning and route-optimization expertise.
- Prototype and deploy algorithms for global and local path planning, trajectory optimization, and multi-agent coordination.
- Develop high-performance real-time command-and-control software, including mission-planning tools and autonomous tasking and routing services.
- Design planners, search algorithms, and decision-making systems that generate safe, feasible, and optimal routes in uncertain environments.
- Analyze planner performance with high-fidelity simulations, modeling tools, and statistical techniques.
- Customize algorithms and software for collaborative autonomy, asset routing, and obstacle and threat avoidance.
- Integrate path-planning technologies into the command-and-control software lifecycle from requirements definition through testing and optimization.
- Communicate technical progress and actionable insights to colleagues, operators, and end users.
Requirements
- Proficiency in algorithm design, software development, mathematical modeling, C/C++, Python, and Matlab.
- Knowledge of graph-based, sampling-based, lattice-based, and grid-based path-planning techniques, including A*, D* Lite, RRT, RRT*, and PRM.
- Experience in guidance, navigation, and control; trajectory optimization; and/or predictive modeling for vehicle dynamics or weapon-system effectiveness.
- Understanding of linear algebra, optimization, computational geometry, and graph theory.
- Knowledge of vehicle dynamics, kinematic constraints, and control theory for autonomous ground, air, or maritime platforms.
- Familiarity with map representations, terrain reasoning, and large-scale geospatial and environmental data in distributed command-and-control architectures.
- Background in machine learning for planning and decision-making, including reinforcement learning, learned heuristics, and behavior prediction.
- Ability to engineer robust planning systems for uncertainty, multi-agent coordination, and complex, dynamic, contested environments.
- Experience working across development lifecycles from prototyping through production optimization.
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
