Responsibilities
- Define and influence the direction of a small command-and-control software team using path-planning and route-optimization expertise.
- Prototype and deploy global and local path-planning, trajectory-optimization, and multi-agent coordination algorithms.
- Develop high-performance software for real-time command-and-control systems, including mission-planning tools and autonomous tasking and routing services.
- Design planners, search algorithms, and decision-making systems that generate safe, feasible, and optimal routes in uncertain and contested environments.
- Evaluate planner behavior with high-fidelity simulations, modeling tools, and statistical analysis across diverse mission scenarios.
- Customize algorithms and software for collaborative autonomy, asset routing, obstacle avoidance, and threat avoidance.
- Integrate path-planning technologies into the command-and-control software stack and development lifecycle.
- Communicate technical progress and actionable insights to colleagues, operators, and end users.
Requirements
- Proficiency in algorithm design, software development, mathematical modeling, C, C++, Python, and Matlab.
- Strong knowledge of graph-based, sampling-based, lattice-based, or grid-based path-planning techniques, including A*, D* Lite, RRT, RRT*, and PRM.
- Demonstrated experience in guidance, navigation, and control; trajectory optimization; or predictive modeling for vehicle dynamics and weapon-system effectiveness.
- Understanding of linear algebra, optimization, computational geometry, and graph theory.
- Knowledge of vehicle dynamics, kinematic constraints, and control theory for autonomous ground, air, or maritime platforms.
- Familiarity with map representations, terrain reasoning, and large-scale geospatial and environmental data in distributed command-and-control architectures.
- Background in machine learning applied to planning and decision-making, including reinforcement learning, learned heuristics, and behavior prediction.
- Ability to engineer robust planning systems for uncertainty, multi-agent coordination, and complex dynamic environments.
- Experience across the development lifecycle from prototyping through production optimization.
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
