Responsibilities
- Design and own application architecture for a web product area, including state management, routing, data fetching, rendering strategy, design-system implementation, and experimentation.
- Define API contracts, consume Platform APIs through the API gateway, implement OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and SSO flows, and contribute server-side code where needed.
- Own customer-facing performance, reliability, quality metrics, production health, on-call leadership, root-cause analysis, and resolution of complex production issues.
- Design and deploy web applications on AWS or GCP using containers, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code within Platform and DevSecOps standards.
- Create shared patterns and components, review designs and code, and lead targeted modernization such as Angular to React and BFF to Platform APIs.
- Produce architecture documents, verification tests, and traceability supporting design controls and the Design History File under IEC 62304.
- Mentor P1 and P2 engineers, review their work, and participate in hiring.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field plus four years of experience, or a master's degree plus three years of experience.
- Deep proficiency in React or Angular with TypeScript and working proficiency in a server-side stack such as Node.js, Python, Java, Go, or Rust.
- Experience designing application architecture and API contracts, including state management, data fetching, and integration with internal and third-party systems.
- Experience deploying and operating end-user applications on AWS or GCP, including containers and CI/CD.
- Experience owning performance, reliability, and production health for end-user-facing software.
- Strong communication and distributed-team collaboration skills, plus the ability to set standards within a secure software development lifecycle with automated testing.
- Preferred experience with medical-device software or other regulated device software under IEC 62304, ISO 13485, and FDA design controls.
- Preferred experience leading frontend modernization, using Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK, Kubernetes, Figma, Tokens Studio, HL7, FHIR, or IHE, and familiarity with cloud certifications and IEC 62366-1.
