Responsibilities
- Design and build standardized cloud observability patterns for AWS and EKS/Kubernetes.
- Build telemetry collection and distribution at scale across a multi-account AWS estate.
- Integrate AWS telemetry with existing metrics, logging, alerting, inventory, and service-ownership platforms.
- Deploy observability components with designs that avoid circular dependencies.
- Build or integrate log, metric, and alerting platforms with storage, routing, retention, and PagerDuty integration.
- Create repeatable onboarding patterns and automate alert rules, scrape targets, dashboards, and team-consumable configurations.
- Support retrospective deployment of observability standards across existing cloud workloads.
- Reduce operational toil through automation and standardization while collaborating with Observability, Cloud, Platform Engineering, and service-owning teams.
Requirements
- Previous production experience building or significantly expanding cloud observability capabilities.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, infrastructure, Kubernetes, telemetry, and automation, particularly AWS and EKS/Kubernetes.
- Understanding of observability fundamentals, platform engineering, service ownership, and scalable onboarding.
- Ability to automate repetitive work, investigate unfamiliar systems, solve root causes, and adapt designs as new information emerges.
- Pragmatic engineering judgment and the ability to own outcomes while working across teams.
- Experience with VictoriaMetrics, VictoriaLogs, Alertmanager, Terraform, Python, Go, or similar tooling is useful but not mandatory.
