Base Salary
$216k - $342k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and implement integrated Android experiences leveraging platform capabilities.
- Develop against Android framework and system APIs, including lifecycle and background execution.
- Identify and utilize device capabilities to enable context-aware AI experiences.
- Create systems that help users complete multi-step tasks across applications and services.
- Develop scalable abstractions for device-specific capabilities to support various Android devices.
- Prototype new interaction models to explore Android capabilities and shape product direction.
- Manage experiences from technical exploration through to production and iteration.
- Ensure reliability and performance across diverse Android devices.
- Design for privacy and security, handling user data and permissions responsibly.
- Collaborate with product, design, research, and engineering teams to create cohesive experiences.
Requirements
- Deep experience in building and shipping high-quality Android software.
- Strong knowledge of the Android platform beyond UI development, including system services and lifecycle.
- Proficiency in Kotlin and/or Java, with experience in large Android codebases.
- Experience with AOSP, Android framework internals, and OEM-specific integrations.
- Ability to integrate software with hardware and debug cross-boundary issues.
- Understanding of Android ecosystem realities, including OS versions and device configurations.
- Commitment to product quality and user experience.
- Creative thinking about new platform capabilities and consumer experiences.
- Ability to thrive in ambiguous and rapidly changing environments.
- Ownership of problems and ability to drive work from exploration to production.
