Base Salary
$122k - $146k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, high-performance object-oriented backend services.
- Develop public APIs using Java and internal gRPC APIs for inter-service and inter-system communication.
- Design and build agentic AI systems, autonomous agents, multi-agent architectures, orchestration, tool use, memory, and multi-step decision-making capabilities.
- Integrate AI systems with APIs and enterprise data sources using MCP or similar protocols.
- Build and optimize LLM-powered services, including evaluation frameworks, observability, guardrails, context management, and retrieval-augmented generation.
- Lead system designs, technical decisions, comparative technology analyses, cross-team projects, and technical leadership efforts.
- Write unit, integration, end-to-end, concurrency, load, and performance tests.
- Improve scalability, stability, monitoring, automated healing, testing, and continuous delivery.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues, conduct root cause analysis, provide live-site support, and drive reliability improvements.
- Conduct code reviews, mentor junior and mid-level engineers, maintain technical documentation, and collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
- 5–8 years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, and problem solving.
- Expertise designing and developing internet-scale services with scalability, availability, security, and reliability considerations.
- Backend development expertise with Java or C#, SpringBoot, API development, the ODATA framework, and SQL.
- Hands-on experience building or contributing to AI/LLM-powered applications or agent-based systems.
- Familiarity with agent frameworks, tool-use patterns, orchestration of LLM workflows, prompt engineering, embeddings, and vector-based retrieval.
- Experience integrating AI systems with external tools or APIs using MCP or similar protocols and scaling AI workloads in production.
- Preferred: master’s degree in computer science or software engineering and 8+ years of software engineering experience.
- Preferred: Python, Java, event-driven architecture, Kafka, card payments, Docker, Kubernetes, API security, PCI DSS, and legacy-system improvement experience.
- Preferred: production AI agents or copilots, multi-agent systems, distributed AI architectures, vector databases such as Pinecone, Weaviate, OpenSearch, or Milvus, and AI evaluation, safety, and responsible AI practices.
