Responsibilities
- Engage with external stakeholders and clients to understand needs and design solutions for capturing and integrating data into Horizon.
- Collaborate with quant, risk advisory, and global capital market teams to gather requirements and propose solutions.
- Develop understanding of FX, interest rate products, financial markets, and market data sources.
- Maintain applications and scheduled processes on an ad hoc basis.
- Implement AWS cloud-native HTTP APIs and event-driven microservices using Rust, Python, and gRPC.
- Design data models for complex trades across multiple asset classes using portfolio databases.
- Build performance-critical Rust systems and contribute efficient, testable, maintainable Python code with performance and observability in mind.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, mathematics, finance, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience with one or more modern programming languages; the team primarily uses Rust and Python.
- Experience with databases; the team uses MongoDB, MySQL, and DynamoDB.
- Strong interest in financial systems and designing financial object models.
- Curiosity about exploring technologies that can improve the platform.
- Experience with financial or market risk modeling is a plus but not required.
- Experience with financial risk management software or platforms is preferred.
- Knowledge of AWS computing platforms and services is preferred.

- Hybrid, full-time position in Toronto.
- Base salary of CAD 100,000–150,000 per year, determined based on experience and market location.
