Responsibilities
- Design and develop performance-optimized ABAP solutions for SAP HANA using HANA pushdown principles.
- Create CDS views, associations, annotations, authorization-aware data models, and reusable semantic data artifacts.
- Implement performance-critical logic with AMDP and SQLScript.
- Build modular ABAP services and APIs using OData and contract-first service design patterns.
- Develop AI-native SAP capabilities including LLM integrations, tool-calling orchestration, retrieval grounding, prompts, context assembly, and deterministic fallbacks.
- Create automated unit, integration, and contract tests plus AI evaluation harnesses using golden datasets, scenario tests, and monitoring.
- Implement AI guardrails including authorization-aware filtering, redaction, confirmations, and audit logs.
- Add production observability, structured diagnostics, error handling, retries, idempotency, correlation IDs, and safe failure modes.
- Integrate SAP HANA services with SAP and non-SAP ecosystems, cloud runtimes, API gateways, and enterprise integration platforms.
- Support incident response, performance benchmarking, load testing, and the evolution of prototypes into secure production systems.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional experience.
- 15 years of full-time education.
- Strong hands-on expertise in ABAP development on HANA, including performance tuning, pushdown, and efficient SQL access patterns.
- Proficiency with CDS views and modern data modeling, including associations, annotations, and authorization concepts.
- Experience with AMDP and SQLScript for controlled code pushdown and performance-critical scenarios.
- Solid software engineering, clean design, testing, and production-readiness practices.
- Ability to build AI-native capabilities involving LLM integration, retrieval grounding, tool orchestration, evaluation loops, and safety boundaries.
- Experience or familiarity with OData and service design, API lifecycle management, and contract-first development.
- Experience integrating SAP backends with cloud runtimes and enterprise integration platforms is strongly beneficial.
- Familiarity with performance benchmarking, load testing, query-plan-driven tuning, SAP security, authorizations, and compliance requirements is strongly beneficial.
