Senior ML Platform Engineer - Healthcare AI & Production Systems

Responsibilities
- Create, manage, maintain, and refactor ML codebases, pipelines, and workflows.
- Collaborate with research, medical, and engineering staff to design and implement machine learning approaches.
- Implement scalable ML methods and workflows for high-performance computing resources.
- Develop deployable machine learning and AI solutions for the healthcare system.
- Review code and provide feedback on style, accuracy, testability, efficiency, and other best practices.
- Troubleshoot data analysis issues, including implementation problems, hyperparameter choices, and modeling decisions.
- Write efficient systems code and tests, debug distributed systems, and monitor systems for degradation, downtime, or interruptions.
- Assist with preparing manuscripts and disseminating results in appropriate venues.
- Identify dependencies and develop design documents for products, applications, services, or platforms.
- Work independently and communicate with team members and stakeholders while handling multiple projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Five years of experience in software engineering.
- Hands-on coding experience with C++, Python, PyTorch, or TensorFlow.
- Foundational understanding of supervised learning, unsupervised learning, reinforcement learning, and machine learning.
- Ability to execute independently in ambiguous situations and lead dependency identification and design-document development.
- Ability to write efficient systems code and tests and debug distributed systems.
- Preferred experience in complex academic medical center environments and with large multimodal health datasets.
- Preferred experience with software lifecycle management, shipping products and scalable reliable services, and asynchronous programming and concurrency.
- Preferred experience with Azure Kubernetes Service, Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service, or Google Kubernetes Engine.
- Preferred experience building database engines, query engines, and large-scale columnar, full-text, or vector indexing solutions.
- Preferred experience programming CUDA and building AI systems at scale.
- Preferred experience with live site operations, Site Reliability Engineering, production support, networking, distributed systems, lower-level infrastructure, accessible technologies, software test engineering, and AI agents.
