
Back-End Engineer (Python)
Remote PeopleResponsibilities
- Develop and document fast, secure, easy-to-use APIs for frontend and backend applications.
- Build integrations with other applications and third-party software.
- Participate in the full implementation cycle from design through rollout.
- Use Cursor, Claude Code, and GitHub Copilot while reviewing and validating generated code.
- Collaborate with engineers and the Product Manager to plan and implement features.
- Participate in the Backend Engineering Chapter and contribute to architecture discussions.
- Work asynchronously with a cross-functional squad across Asia and Europe.
Requirements
- At least three years of software development experience.
- Strong Python skills and experience with a Python framework, preferably FastAPI.
- Experience implementing microservices.
- Knowledge of REST, gRPC, GraphQL, and API documentation with OpenAPI/Swagger.
- Strong SQL skills and experience with common data store solutions.
- Ability to design and document technical solutions before implementation.
- Clear written communication and reliable asynchronous collaboration in a remote environment.
- Familiarity with AI coding assistants and a disciplined workflow around them is preferred.
- TDD familiarity and good instincts for writing tests are preferred.
- Experience with a SaaS platform or custom-built product is preferred.
- Knowledge of online payment, payroll, or invoicing domains is preferred.
- Some experience with Java and Spring Boot is preferred.
- Understanding of security and application performance concepts is preferred.
- Self-directed, curious, and proactive approach to ownership and growth is preferred.
