Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and development of next-generation Azure Storage table, metadata, and indexing systems.
- Design and evolve partitioning, indexing, transactions, consistency, logging, replication, caching, and high-performance read/write primitives.
- Solve distributed-systems challenges involving scale, latency, availability, reliability, and efficiency for trillions of objects and exabyte-scale storage.
- Drive cross-system architectural decisions and take foundational technologies from design and prototyping through production.
- Improve system performance, scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency through analysis of architecture and critical data paths.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 6+ years of technical engineering experience with coding, or equivalent experience.
- Experience coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, Rust, or Python.
- Ability to meet Microsoft Cloud Background Check and other applicable Microsoft, customer, or government security screening requirements.
- Preferred: master's degree and 8+ years of technical engineering experience, or bachelor's degree and 12+ years of technical engineering experience, or equivalent experience.
- Preferred: 5+ years designing or developing distributed storage, databases, or large-scale distributed systems.
- Preferred: 3+ years designing or optimizing indexing, partitioning, caching, consistency, or data access mechanisms in distributed systems.
- Preferred: 3+ years diagnosing and optimizing performance, scalability, concurrency, or reliability of production systems.
