Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance code for GFDL experimental near-real-time and high-resolution hurricane prediction systems.
- Improve the FV3 dynamical core, physical parameterizations, model initialization techniques, and unified sub-grid diffusion scheme.
- Develop and maintain regional coupled atmospheric-ocean-wave modeling software and data-processing infrastructure.
- Perform scientific analysis, technical support, algorithm development, and documented evaluations of model prototypes.
- Manage code and data archives for future analysis and use.
- Author or co-author manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals.
- Prepare and present results at AGU, AMS, and other scientific conferences or workshops.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and five or more years of experience, or master’s degree and three or more years of experience, or PhD and zero years of related experience.
- Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
