Responsibilities
- Design and build the agent runtime, including planning and execution loops, tool calling, state management, durable execution, failure recovery, coordination, and handoffs.
- Build reusable agent primitives and develop production agents from domain workflows, including goals, actions, failure handling, and success criteria.
- Ground agent outputs in authoritative enterprise data and implement human-in-the-loop approval gates, overrides, uncertainty handling, and decision evidence.
- Build evaluation harnesses and metrics for multi-step agent behavior, including task completion, tool-call correctness, groundedness, trajectory quality, regressions, latency, cost, and human intervention.
- Implement guardrails, fallbacks, timeouts, cost ceilings, observability, tracing, prompt-injection protections, permission controls, and data-leakage safeguards.
- Integrate agents with platform APIs and third-party enterprise systems, and build retrieval, context, controlled execution, and traceable audit pipelines.
- Build and operate backend services on AWS, contribute to system architecture and technical decisions, and support infrastructure-as-code and deployment pipelines.
Requirements
- 6+ years of software engineering experience, including production systems.
- Experience building production LLM systems with tool-using or multi-step agentic workflows beyond simple prompting and chat interfaces.
- Strong understanding of LLM behavior, limitations, failure modes, and error compounding across multi-step runs.
- Experience with LLM APIs, tool and function calling, and planning and execution loops.
- Experience evaluating and debugging non-deterministic systems.
- Solid backend and cloud experience with AWS or an equivalent platform.
- Proficiency in TypeScript and/or Python.
- Comfort debugging distributed and non-deterministic systems and balancing accuracy, latency, reliability, and cost.
- Experience owning production systems end-to-end and making architecture decisions in ambiguous problem spaces.
- Nice-to-have experience with C#, Microsoft .NET Framework, MCP and other tool or interop protocols, agent evaluation pipelines, regulated systems, retrieval and grounding, Temporal, n8n, ECS, EKS, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code.
