Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain API management software and its underlying stack.
- Architect and implement proxying, load balancing, database support, and other Kong core features.
- Troubleshoot bugs, tune performance, and perform low-level optimizations.
- Extend Kong Core to support emerging industry trends and use cases.
- Integrate Kong with third-party deployment platforms and tooling.
- Engage with the open-source community and produce product documentation.
Requirements
- 5+ years of programming experience in server-side applications and components.
- Experience designing, prototyping, building, and debugging highly scalable, distributed, reliable, and resilient applications.
- Hands-on expertise troubleshooting and profiling Linux systems.
- Experience with distributed systems, the Linux networking stack, computer systems programming, and L4/L7 transports and protocols.
- 3+ years of Rust programming experience with a solid understanding of async Rust.
- Ability to work with a remotely distributed team and communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
- Strong ownership and documentation skills.
- Preferred experience includes Tokio, Rust open-source contributions, NGINX, OpenResty, Kong, LuaJIT, eBPF, or WASM.
