Base Salary
$175k - $240k/yr
Responsibilities
- Help establish the foundation for Onton's engineering team as a Founding Engineer.
- Design, scope, implement, and deploy user-critical features.
- Build across the web application, containers, infrastructure, and other layers of the stack.
- Collaborate with engineers, AI researchers, and product designers to create a cohesive user experience.
- Continuously improve the system, engineering practices, and team capabilities.
- Solve challenging problems involving graph engines, multimodal search, natural-language parsing, ML models, and inference systems.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of relevant engineering experience, preferably at fast-scaling companies.
- Ability to work as a self-directed generalist who can solve a broad range of engineering problems.
- Ability to ship code quickly and iteratively while maintaining correctness, robustness, scalability, and maintainability.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Functional programming experience is preferred but not required.
- Experience with NLP and ML models and an understanding of their capabilities and limitations is preferred.
- Ability to attend onsite final-round interviews and work full-time in person initially in San Francisco.

- After one year, team members may transition to fully remote work while operating primarily on Pacific Time.
