Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable back-end services using TypeScript and Node.js.
- Build versioned REST APIs using contract-first development and OpenAPI specifications.
- Develop integrations with HR, ERP, workforce-management, and other enterprise systems, including safe write-back operations.
- Implement idempotency, retries, backoff, outbox patterns, event-driven processing, dead-letter queues, and reconciliation mechanisms.
- Build decision services, business rules, and outcome-tracking capabilities.
- Develop and support data services and pipelines that process and transform operational data.
- Design secure multi-tenant services with strict tenant isolation and appropriate access controls.
- Build and maintain cloud-native, containerized services and automated delivery pipelines using Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Implement unit, integration, and contract tests.
- Collaborate with front-end, data, platform, and client stakeholders to deliver technical solutions.
- Use AI-assisted development tools while reviewing and validating generated code.
- Own services through technical design, implementation, production deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and ongoing improvement.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience building production back-end services, with recent hands-on TypeScript and Node.js experience.
- Experience launching and supporting services in production.
- Experience designing REST APIs with OpenAPI specifications, generated server types, clients, and tests.
- Knowledge of API versioning and compatibility management across consumers.
- Experience building integrations that write data back into external enterprise systems such as HR, ERP, or vendor-management platforms.
- Understanding of idempotency, retries, backoff, outbox patterns, dead-letter queues, and reconciliation.
- Experience building multi-tenant SaaS services with tenant isolation across data, authorization, and testing layers.
- Production cloud and security experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP, including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, containers, and CI/CD.
- Azure and Entra ID experience is strongly advantageous.
- Regular use of unit, integration, and contract testing.
- Experience using AI coding assistants or agents and validating their generated code.
- Fluent written and spoken English and comfort collaborating with US-based engineers and clients.
- Java experience or familiarity with DMN decision tables or Drools is a plus.
- Experience with Snowflake, dbt, SQL Server, Azure SQL, or other modern cloud data platforms is a plus.
- Experience with Neo4j and Cypher, event-driven architectures, Azure Service Bus, Event Grid, Workday, vendor-management systems, MCP servers, LLM tool-calling integrations, audit trails, approval workflows, regulated environments, healthcare operations, or workforce management is a plus.
