Responsibilities
- Resolve complex technical problems across applications and technology layers while leading projects with significant business impact.
- Develop integrated enterprise applications across frontend, backend, APIs, data, and supporting services.
- Guide technical direction, architecture, design decisions, and adoption of enterprise frameworks, tools, technologies, and engineering practices.
- Drive disaster recovery, capacity planning, performance, regression and chaos testing, observability, alerting, dashboards, reliability practices, and recovery runbooks.
- Evaluate and recommend software components, frameworks, tools, and technologies to improve development and delivery.
- Streamline development and operational processes, remove bottlenecks, and resolve escalated technical issues.
- Lead design discussions and conduct architecture and code reviews while mentoring engineers and establishing engineering standards.
- Work directly with customers, product teams, architects, and engineers to translate business needs into technical solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer information systems, or a related field, or equivalent years of experience in lieu of the education requirement when applicable.
- At least 7 years of experience in software development or a related field.
- At least 6 years of experience across frontend technologies, middleware including microservices and APIs, database technologies, or DevOps.
- At least 6 years of experience implementing solutions through iterative software development lifecycles.
- Preferred master’s degree in computer science, computer information systems, software engineering, or a related field.
- Preferred 6+ years designing, building, and supporting complex enterprise or customer-facing applications.
- Strong backend development experience with Go preferred, or significant experience with Python or Java.
- Experience building modern frontend applications with React, Next.js, and TypeScript and integrating them with APIs and backend services.
- Experience designing backend services, APIs, microservices, and distributed systems using Go, Python, Java, or Node.js.
- Preferred 6+ years translating business needs into technical requirements, solution designs, and scalable architectures.
- Preferred 6+ years working across frontend development, APIs and middleware, databases, cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and CI/CD.
- Experience with cloud-based software operations, automated testing, deployment pipelines, observability, incident management, and production support.
- At least 4 years providing technical leadership to engineering teams, with or without direct reports.
- Experience supporting enterprise retail technology and working with customers, product teams, architects, and engineers.
