Responsibilities
- Own the target-state architecture and reusable application patterns for a unified cloud platform.
- Design multi-tenant isolation, authentication, authorization, identity mapping, and fine-grained access controls across platform features and integrations.
- Build API, integration, orchestration, and anti-corruption layers for third-party systems using versioned contracts, event-driven synchronization, idempotent write-back, and resilience patterns.
- Modernize legacy .NET Framework, WCF, on-premises, monolithic, and SQL applications incrementally without disrupting business operations.
- Build cloud-native Azure PaaS applications and the application and business-logic layer of a data and analytics platform.
- Select languages and frameworks, guide engineering adoption, and deliver full-stack experiences using TypeScript web interfaces and modular or plugin-based architecture.
- Lead application data modeling, migration, data quality, auditability, reconciliation, and safe deployment.
- Own application delivery through the platform team's paved path, including CI/CD, automated testing, quality gates, security gates, and collaboration with the cloud engineering team.
- Lead secure application development covering authentication, authorization, validation, encryption, secrets management, OWASP practices, and SOC 2 controls.
- Set engineering standards and provide hands-on technical leadership through design decisions, code reviews, mentoring, documentation, and architecture decision records.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience building and operating production applications and services, including architecture ownership and cross-functional delivery leadership.
- Experience architecting multi-tenant applications for internal and external users with customer data isolation, external and workforce identity, fine-grained authorization, and row-level security.
- Experience building orchestration layers over third-party systems of record, including API facades, backend-for-frontend patterns, anti-corruption layers, canonical domain models, versioned contracts, event-driven synchronization, idempotent write-back, and dependency resilience.
- Deep expertise in at least one modern cloud language and production fluency in additional languages such as Java, Go, Python, or Node.js/TypeScript; C#/.NET is the largest existing footprint.
- Experience modernizing monolithic, on-premises, or legacy applications to cloud-native patterns and consolidating applications into a unified platform.
- Hands-on Azure PaaS application development using services such as App Service, Container Apps, managed identity, Key Vault, and Service Bus or equivalent messaging.
- Full-stack experience with component-based TypeScript web UIs, shared design systems, and plugin or micro-frontend models.
- Strong relational data modeling and migration experience with data quality, auditability, and reconciliation controls.
- Experience with secure application development, authentication, authorization, input validation, encryption, secrets management, OWASP practices, and SOC 2 controls.
- Experience delivering through CI/CD with GitHub Actions, GitHub Enterprise, or equivalent tools, including pull requests, automated testing, and quality and security gates.
- Demonstrated technical leadership without formal authority and ability to serve as the first and lead application engineer across greenfield development and legacy modernization.
- Preferred: experience with plugin-based platforms, policy engines, data-dense client interfaces, professional-services or accounting platforms, document and practice-management systems, build-versus-buy decisions, open-source license diligence, strangler fig modernization, event-driven decomposition, audit-cycle environments such as SOC 2 or HIPAA, relevant industry experience, or Microsoft AZ-204, AZ-305, language, framework, or database certifications.
