Responsibilities
- Build, theme, and maintain scalable front-end components within Drupal 10.
- Collaborate with backend scientific developers to integrate UI components, interactive dashboards, visual tools, data streams, and web services.
- Develop clean, modern, reusable front-end assets using HTML5, CSS3/SASS, JavaScript/TypeScript, and Drupal theme frameworks.
- Create accessible, mobile-first user flows for space-weather maps, charts, and forecasts aligned with Section 508 and WCAG standards.
- Test and optimize interfaces across browsers, devices, and viewports for visual consistency and performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Web Engineering, Interactive Design, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 5 years of dedicated web development and UI/UX front-end engineering experience.
- Demonstrated experience custom-theming and building front-end components in Drupal 10, including Twig, custom layouts, and the Drupal render API.
- High proficiency in HTML5, CSS3/SASS, JavaScript, TypeScript, Flexbox, and CSS Grid.
- Strong visual attention to detail and commitment to polished, high-quality interfaces.
- Proficiency with Git and collaborative development workflows.
- Preferred: experience with scientific, meteorological, or geospatial data visualizations or mapping interfaces, including Leaflet, OpenLayers, Chart.js, or D3.js.
- Preferred: hands-on experience with Section 508 accessibility compliance and testing tools.
- Preferred: familiarity with Docker, DDEV, or Lando and collaboration with scientific, engineering, or research teams in an Agile environment.
