Lead Software Engineer - Java Backend Engineer
JPMorgan ChaseResponsibilities
- Design, develop, troubleshoot, review, and debug secure, high-quality production software.
- Build Java-based distributed applications, reusable services, and solutions across multiple technical areas.
- Lead adoption of approved AI-assisted engineering practices for coding, code review, testing, troubleshooting, and incident analysis.
- Establish team standards for validating AI-assisted outputs for correctness, performance, security, and responsible handling of sensitive data.
- Identify and automate remediation of recurring issues to improve application and system stability.
- Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams regarding architecture, technical capabilities, and system applicability.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and at least five years of applied experience.
- Hands-on experience with system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
- Advanced proficiency in Java 17 or later and experience developing Java distributed applications.
- Experience with Spring Boot and database technologies such as Cassandra or Cockroach.
- Experience leading the effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools and coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption.
- Experience designing and building reusable services and using Behavior Driven Development with Cucumber.
- Proficiency across the Software Development Life Cycle and understanding of application resiliency and security practices.
- Preferred experience deploying and supporting applications in AWS, using Kafka or IBM MQ, building automation with Maven, and configuring continuous integration in Jenkins.
