Base Salary
$124k - $222k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate backend microservices and developer-facing UI features end to end.
- Develop public and internal APIs with versioning, backward compatibility, and security standards.
- Operate cloud-native services using metrics, logging, tracing, SLO-based alerting, and on-call support.
- Integrate large language models, real-time streaming interfaces, and Model Context Protocol tooling.
- Use, direct, review, and validate AI-generated code and help establish AI-augmented development practices.
- Partner with product managers, designers, and engineers to scope work and communicate technical tradeoffs.
- Contribute through code reviews, design feedback, pairing, test automation, and technical documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of software engineering experience focused on backend microservices and distributed systems.
- 5+ years of experience with Java or Kotlin and production Spring Boot, with Go listed as a plus.
- 5+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure cloud platforms.
- 5+ years of experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- 3+ years of operating production services, including observability, SLO-based alerting, and on-call.
- Hands-on experience with AI-augmented development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or GitHub Copilot.
- Deep backend proficiency, distributed-systems knowledge, and high-availability architecture experience.
- Expertise in API development and contract management, including versioning, backward compatibility, and modern protocols such as MCP.
- Experience with service ownership, operational health, test automation, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-native observability.
- Hands-on experience integrating AI capabilities into software products.
- At least 1 year of experience building modern frontend UIs with React, Angular, or Vue.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills; experience with developer platforms, DevTools, or language servers is a plus.
