Base Salary
$79k - $210k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable components of distributed systems and optimize systems for large-scale data retrieval, storage, and processing.
- Build fault-tolerant systems using redundancy, replication, automatic failover, retries, circuit breakers, timeouts, and recovery-oriented principles.
- Develop functional, performance, load, fault-injection, and brown-out tests to validate system correctness, availability, and scalability.
- Create and customize alarms, dashboards, telemetry, alerting mechanisms, runbooks, and operational procedures.
- Diagnose and resolve operational issues, participate in incident response and root-cause investigations, and support operational rotations.
- Develop automation scripts and infrastructure-as-code tooling for troubleshooting, maintenance, cloud infrastructure management, and change management.
- Apply encryption, access controls, remediation plans, and compliance practices for secure multi-tenant cloud environments.
- Review implementations for scalability and collaborate across teams to deliver work aligned with project and stakeholder needs.
Requirements
- BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- 3–5+ years of software engineering experience building reliable services, infrastructure, or distributed systems.
- Strong programming ability in at least one systems or backend language, such as Java, Go, Rust, C, C++, or Python; Rust is a strong plus for compute and systems-oriented work.
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, networking, concurrency, and distributed-systems fundamentals.
- Experience or strong interest in cloud infrastructure, virtualization, Linux systems, containers, storage, networking, security, schedulers, control planes, or management planes.
- Ability to design, build, test, and debug reliable software in a large, evolving codebase.
- Strong communication, collaboration, ownership, problem-solving, and continuous-learning skills.
