Base Salary
$157k - $215k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and troubleshooting of resilient distributed software solutions.
- Build and maintain secure, low-latency or high-throughput services, background workers, and APIs.
- Design distributed application architectures involving service decomposition, consistency, caching, failover, partitioning, and replication.
- Own systems end to end through observability, incident response, capacity planning, performance optimization, and operational stability.
- Analyze production telemetry and business data to improve reliability and scalability.
- Identify systemic failure modes such as hot partitions, thundering herds, cascading failures, and backpressure gaps.
- Collaborate with platform, infrastructure, security, dependent application, product, SRE/operations, and end-user teams.
- Contribute to technical communities, mentoring, design reviews, code reviews, and an inclusive engineering culture.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
- Recent hands-on experience building distributed systems in one or more modern object-oriented programming languages.
- Strong understanding of consistency models, consensus basics, idempotency, concurrency, retries and timeouts, leader election, partitioning, replication, and failure handling.
- Practical experience with system design, application development, testing, and operational stability in production environments.
- Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining software in a large corporate environment.
- Familiarity with database querying and data modeling using SQL and/or NoSQL systems.
- Knowledge of the software development life cycle, code review, automated testing, secure coding, release management, agile delivery, CI/CD, application resiliency, and security controls.
- Preferred: experience building highly performant and resilient enterprise applications for high-performance or real-time environments and an interest in financial products.
