Responsibilities

Design and develop scalable microservices and APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
Build services for high-volume data ingestion, processing, and access.
Integrate backend services with modern cloud data platforms and legacy systems.
Write and optimize SQL queries and stored procedures for application features and data pipelines.
Collaborate with Data Engineers, Analysts, and Product teams on reliable, well-tested solutions.
Ensure data integrity, availability, and performance across systems.
Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and CI/CD processes.
Write unit, integration, and data tests.
Modernize legacy components into scalable cloud-native services.
Deploy and manage services in Kubernetes using Helm.

5+ years of experience in backend software engineering or data-focused software development.
Strong Java and Spring Boot programming skills for microservices development.
Strong knowledge of SQL, relational database design, performance tuning, and data modeling.
Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs.
Familiarity with ETL/ELT concepts and data integration techniques.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Git-based version control.
Experience with unit testing frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito, plus integration testing.
Hands-on experience deploying applications in Kubernetes using Helm charts.
Practical experience with Snowflake and dbt is desirable.
Exposure to AWS, Azure, or GCP and infrastructure-as-code is a plus.
Knowledge of Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar messaging and event-streaming tools is a bonus.
Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Comfort working with ambiguity, legacy codebases, and hybrid legacy/modern systems.
Pragmatic focus on production-quality software, automation, performance optimization, clean architecture, and reducing technical debt.

Primarily remote work with occasional visits to the office in Coimbra or Aveiro.
Future office locations in Porto are planned.
