Base Salary
$180k - $220k/yr
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and set architecture and project direction for a core software-platform area.
- Design systems that orchestrate quantum-computing workloads, interface with hardware control and calibration systems, and manage experimental data.
- Rewrite and productionize prototype code from Quantum Engineers into reliable, tested, maintainable services.
- Mentor engineers and establish strong practices for code quality, design, documentation, and engineering execution.
- Deploy, monitor, and support the production platform, including participation in an on-call rotation.
- Partner with infrastructure engineers to improve CI/CD pipelines and represent engineering work with customers, partners, and the broader technical community.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field; a master's degree or PhD is welcome but not required.
- 10+ years of professional experience as a software engineer with significant technical achievements.
- Proven ability to design and implement architecture-level features in complex systems.
- Proficiency with Python and SQL.
- Experience developing and operating software in Linux environments.
- Familiarity with Git, automated testing, and modern software development practices.
- Willingness to learn atomic, optical, laser physics, and quantum mechanics concepts.
- Preferred qualifications include experience with C++ or Rust, Azure, AWS, GCP, Terraform, TypeScript/React, containerization, project management, and both large technology-company and startup environments.
