Base Salary

$211k - $248k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Leverage load testing and chaos engineering to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
  • Drive software changes to rehome applications onto new infrastructure for improved scalability.
  • Implement software configuration changes and performance tuning parameters.
  • Build developer tools to enhance engineering efficiency.
  • Collaborate with teams to develop and adopt internal developer platform elements.
  • Establish and adopt SLOs and error budgets with application teams.
  • Improve incident response capabilities through enhanced observability and documentation.
  • Evangelize solutions and train the engineering team on cloud-native design strategies.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience focused on distributed systems.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a back-end engineer focused on system performance.
  • Experience in reducing latency using observability and profiling tools.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes and scaling compute services.
  • Comfortable implementing services in Google Cloud Platform with Infrastructure as Code.
  • Proficient in backend languages such as Python, GoLang, Node, or Rust.
  • Experience monitoring distributed systems with tools like Prometheus and Grafana.
  • Passion for engineering enablement and solving scaling challenges.
