Responsibilities
- Lead architecture and establish best practices and reference architectures for a group of 30+ Forward Deployed Engineers.
- Translate customer AI use cases into efficient agentic AI solutions using the ServiceNow AI Platform and other AI tools.
- Decompose work into agent-sized tasks and direct AI coding agents to generate, modify, and refactor production code across services.
- Design and maintain system prompts, agent configurations, decision records, glossaries, golden examples, and agent-readable documentation.
- Evaluate human- and agent-generated code for correctness, security, performance, maintainability, edge cases, failure modes, and concurrency.
- Make architectural decisions, determine implementation sequencing and constraints, and decide when work should be delegated to agents or implemented directly.
- Own production quality, security, and reliability by integrating changes safely, monitoring systems, addressing prompt injection and secret leakage risks, and using production signals to improve specifications and evaluations.
Requirements
- Demonstrated track record of building, shipping, and operating production software.
- Hands-on experience delivering real systems using AI-native methods, including agentic coding tools and AI-assisted workflows.
- Experience working with customers to deploy AI as a Forward Deployed Engineer.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong command of data structures, algorithms, system design, testing, and modern software development practices.
- Working knowledge of machine learning concepts including model training and evaluation, embeddings, probabilistic and non-deterministic model behavior, and LLM and deep learning failure modes.
- Practical proficiency with agentic coding tools, AI-assisted development workflows, agent architectures, and tool-use patterns.
- Hands-on experience designing and operating autonomous agent systems with planning loops, dynamic tool invocation, memory management, execution policies, and multi-agent collaboration.
- Skill in context engineering, including determining what information models receive, when it is retrieved, and how context evolves over time.
- Advanced degrees and relevant certifications are preferred but do not substitute for demonstrated ability to ship reliable software with AI-native practices.
