Base Salary

$220k - $405k/yr

Responsibilities

Design, build, and scale backend session-worker architecture for realtime voice, including durable per-session workers, provider routing, and stateful streaming over gRPC.
Own distributed-systems concerns including session lifecycle, crash recovery, reconnection and replay, multi-region deployment, and graceful degradation under production load.
Build provider-agnostic streaming protocols between backend services and the Rust SDK.
Drive voice and multimodal AI products from problem definition and technical design through implementation and launch.
Build orchestration for live voice models to safely and asynchronously delegate work to tools, agents, and long-running tasks.
Partner with SDK, client, infrastructure, and model teams and work across backend services and client-facing APIs as needed.

At least 4 years of professional software engineering experience building backend or distributed systems.
Strong experience with Rust, Python, or Go, with primary work in Rust and Python.
Experience designing and operating production distributed systems, including streaming RPC, stateful services, message-driven architectures, and failure recovery.
Understanding of cloud infrastructure, including deploying, scaling, and operating services on AWS or an equivalent platform.
Strong product judgment and ability to translate user problems into effective technical solutions.
Genuine interest in and adoption of AI products and willingness to learn quickly.
Experience with realtime media systems, voice, audio streaming, WebRTC, or low-latency transport is a plus.
Full-stack experience spanning backend services, client SDKs, or web frontends is a plus.
Experience integrating LLMs, speech models, or computer vision into production systems is a plus.
Experience with agent frameworks, tool-calling architectures, or sandboxed execution environments is a plus.
Experience at a fast-growing startup or on a high-ownership engineering team is a plus.
