Responsibilities
- Establish Coupa platform performance benchmarks and maintain an automated performance certification test harness.
- Design load, stress, latency, and concurrency testing suites for AI/LLM workloads, including token generation, TTFT, inference throughput, model server capacity, and RAG pipeline performance.
- Troubleshoot configuration, infrastructure, networking, application, database, and AI/ML model deployment issues affecting performance or capacity.
- Collaborate with Product Management, Development Engineering, AI/ML Engineering, and Cloud Infrastructure teams to scale enterprise applications and infrastructure.
- Optimize system performance, capacity, reliability, cost efficiency, scalability, and GPU/CPU compute for AI models.
- Monitor production performance using automation, DevOps tools, and AI observability stacks.
- Conduct end-to-end cluster scalability, performance, exception, root-cause, and latency analysis across multi-cloud environments.
- Promote performance engineering best practices, load testing tools, and AI performance frameworks across the organization.
Requirements
- 12+ years of hands-on experience in performance engineering, analysis, and troubleshooting of complex production systems.
- Deep expertise in public cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, microservices architectures, Kubernetes, and enterprise capacity planning.
- Knowledge of system software internals and how locking, caching, concurrency, CPU/GPU compute, memory, and I/O affect software and AI model performance.
- Proven experience tuning performance across infrastructure, databases, platform layers, and application code.
- Hands-on experience with distributed tracing, logging, metrics collection, and observability/APM tools including New Relic, Grafana, Kibana, Datadog, LangSmith, Arize, Phoenix, and OpenTelemetry.
- Ability to lead architecture reviews, resolve high-stakes technical discussions, clarify ambiguous technical situations, and make strong recommendations in distributed global teams.
- BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
