Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, and operate mission-critical consumer payment features across their full lifecycle.
- Develop and maintain backend functionality for BNPL, gift cards, mobile top-ups, personal IBAN transfers, budget mechanisms, and scheduled top-ups.
- Own and improve AWS-based infrastructure and microservice architecture using EC2/ECS, S3, Lambda, and Kinesis.
- Debug complex issues, investigate production incidents, and improve system reliability and health.
- Translate ambiguous user needs into scalable technical solutions while balancing delivery speed, quality, and maintainability.
- Collaborate with Product and UX/UI teams and contribute to code reviews, refactoring, and engineering best practices.
- Use AI tools to optimize code, accelerate root-cause analysis, and generate documentation.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience as a Backend Engineer in fast-paced environments.
- Strong experience building and maintaining scalable microservices.
- Solid expertise in Java and Spring Boot.
- Exposure to cloud environments, with AWS experience considered a plus, and familiarity with relational databases.
- Strong focus on performance, reliability, clean business logic, and high-quality products.
- Excellent cross-functional collaboration and ability to communicate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical colleagues.
- Passion for fintech and/or startup environments and fluency in English.
