Responsibilities
- Guide architectural decisions and best practices for scalable applications.
- Drive the design, development, implementation, testing, deployment, and documentation of software solutions.
- Build Java-based backend systems, large-scale data-processing applications, microservices, and cloud-native solutions.
- Design data-intensive applications using high- and low-level system design, distributed concepts, concurrency, caching, and event-based systems.
- Collaborate with architects, product management, business stakeholders, senior leadership, and engineering teams across geographies.
- Shape product roadmaps, establish priorities, and deliver strategic technical solutions.
- Use automated deployments, monitoring, alerting, debugging, and troubleshooting practices.
- Participate in hiring and help build high-performing engineering teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, with 10 years of software design and development experience stated in the role requirements.
- The minimum qualifications also allow either a bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of software engineering experience or 7 years of software engineering experience without the degree.
- Strong proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, and Spark, with experience delivering highly scalable Java applications.
- Strong high- and low-level system design skills and experience designing data-intensive applications.
- Knowledge of computer science fundamentals, microservices, data structures, algorithms, problem solving, distributed systems, design patterns, and cloud-native development.
- Experience with Git, Maven, Jenkins, automated deployments, and CI/CD development environments.
- Experience writing modular, testable code and unit, functional, and integration tests using JUnit, Mockito, and MockMvc.
- Experience with relational databases, complex OLAP and OLTP queries, SQL, NoSQL databases such as Cosmos DB, and caching technologies such as Redis or Memcached.
- Experience with RESTful services, ORM tools, concurrency, garbage collection, monitoring, and alerting systems such as Prometheus and Splunk.
- Exposure to Docker, Helm, and Kubernetes; knowledge of Azure and GCP is an advantage.
- Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree plus 3 years of software engineering experience and familiarity with WCAG 2.2 AA, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility practices.
