Base Salary

$219k - $335k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Identify engineering pain points and design and implement reliable, scalable, maintainable solutions.
  • Influence the technical roadmap and evaluate new tools and technologies through proofs of concept.
  • Ship improvements to AV development toolchains and CI services that measurably improve engineering productivity.
  • Support and extend Remote Build Execution and the in-house FUSE file system, including enabling source-code editing in developer environments.
  • Drive software engineering best practices, improve team tooling and processes, and help balance delivery with technical debt.
  • Mentor and grow engineers, guide engineering culture, and lead through individual execution and team influence.
  • Manage competing priorities, communicate trade-offs, and set boundaries around external requests.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of experience designing, building, and operating production systems at scale in the cloud.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience designing highly scalable, reliable, and maintainable services.
  • Production-scale programming experience in Go, Python, or other languages.
  • Understanding of Unix/Linux, SSH, and networking fundamentals.
  • Ability to lead and influence internal and external stakeholders, research and defend proposals, communicate effectively, and provide and receive critical feedback.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, focus on shipping, and work effectively under pressure.
  • Passion for mentoring junior engineers and for self-driving technology.
  • Preferred experience with GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, and open-source projects.
