Base Salary
$165k - $231k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and develop high-performance packet-processing applications in C/C++ using DPDK and FD.io VPP.
- Profile and optimize software for line-rate 100G/400G performance while minimizing latency and jitter.
- Implement BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, SRv6, MPLS, and GRE routing and tunneling functionality.
- Develop drivers and software interfaces for hardware accelerators, SmartNICs, and FPGA offload engines.
- Architect horizontally scalable distributed dataplane systems across TeraWave Point of Presence clusters.
- Provide technical leadership, conduct code reviews, and mentor junior engineers.
- Collaborate with platform, hardware, and network engineering teams on dataplane requirements and interfaces.
- Lead performance benchmarking, packet-forwarding optimization, software architecture decisions, and technology selection.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of systems programming experience with a track record of shipping carrier-grade networking software.
- Expert-level proficiency in C or C++.
- Strong Linux systems programming experience, including threading, memory management, and interrupt handling.
- Solid understanding of the OSI model, TCP/IP, and Ethernet switching fundamentals.
- Preferred experience with DPDK, VPP, eBPF, XDP, Linux kernel networking internals, networking hardware, BGP, EVPN, Segment Routing, CPU pinning, NUMA awareness, cache-line optimization, Kubernetes CNI, DPDK-in-Docker, space systems, satellite communications, or telecommunications networking.
