Responsibilities
- Design, build, and evolve rate-limiting and traffic-control capabilities that protect services and dependencies from overload and demand spikes.
- Develop low-latency, highly available components with fault tolerance and controlled degradation for evaluating and applying traffic policies.
- Improve platform integrations through APIs, SDKs, configuration, and automation that support simple, secure, and observable adoption.
- Drive validation mechanisms and progressive deployments that reduce operational risk and enable auditable, reversible changes.
- Use telemetry, performance testing, and data analysis to detect anomalies, recommend capacity, and optimize protection configurations.
- Apply AI tools and specification-driven development practices to accelerate automation while maintaining quality, security, and testing standards.
- Participate in technical on-call rotations, incident-management rooms, post-incident reviews, and mitigation planning.
- Lead end-to-end initiatives from technical proposal through implementation, testing, progressive deployment, observability, and cross-functional collaboration with infrastructure and platform teams.
Requirements
- Experience developing and operating highly critical backend services using Java, Go, or Python.
- Knowledge of distributed-systems architecture, concurrency, caching mechanisms, backpressure management, and resilience patterns.
- Experience designing APIs and synchronous and asynchronous integrations with clear contracts and service compatibility.
- Knowledge of observability using metrics, logs, traces, dashboards, and alerts, plus unit, integration, and load testing.
- Experience with continuous-delivery practices, deployment automation, Git version control, and code-review processes.
- Experience with AI-assisted software development and specification-driven development frameworks for turning requirements into verifiable deliverables.
- Knowledge or practical experience with traffic management, proxy servers, routing, load balancing, and networking in cloud environments is especially valued.
- Experience with Fury, Envoy, NGINX, or Istio is especially valued.
