Base Salary
$147k - $210k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and implement C++ solutions involving data structures, storage I/O, concurrent programming, and SQL.
- Develop isolated data access methods that scale investigative query processing independently from Spanner’s transactional engine.
- Troubleshoot, analyze, and optimize a massive-scale distributed stateful system for correctness, availability, and resource efficiency.
- Use AI and LLM-based engineering tools to accelerate coding, reviewing, testing, and debugging while retaining ownership of outcomes.
- Collaborate with major Spanner infrastructure and Cloud customers, including Search, Ads, YouTube, and Gemini, to gather requirements and deliver scalable database features.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 2 years of software development experience using C++.
- At least 2 years of experience designing, building, or maintaining distributed systems or large-scale computing infrastructure.
- Experience with performance analysis, troubleshooting, and debugging software systems.
- Preferred: master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Preferred: experience engineering distributed databases, storage systems, or database internals.
- Preferred: experience analyzing complex distributed systems and troubleshooting performance issues using logs, events, and metrics.
- Preferred: fluency using AI/LLM tools for software engineering workflows.
- Preferred: large-scale cloud computing experience and a track record of collaborating with customers on feature development.
Benefits
- US base salary of $147000–$210000, plus a 15% bonus target, equity, and benefits.
