Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end architecture and delivery of major backend platform capabilities and guide execution across complex engineering efforts.
- Define architectures and standards for distributed Golang microservices and high-throughput AWS data pipelines.
- Write design proposals and technical documentation describing trade-offs and long-term platform direction.
- Lead implementation of production-grade Golang microservices and establish service patterns, API conventions, and coding standards.
- Architect synchronous gRPC and REST communication and asynchronous event-driven inter-service communication.
- Drive SLO/SLA definition, distributed tracing, structured logging, alerting, capacity planning, and platform reliability improvements.
- Architect and deliver reliable real-time streaming and batch data engineering pipelines.
- Lead adoption and integration of Amazon Kinesis, Amazon MSK, AWS Glue, AWS Step Functions, and Amazon EMR.
- Define pipeline reliability and observability standards, including idempotency, dead-letter queues, schema governance, dashboards, lineage tracking, and cost-per-record analysis.
- Drive SaaS platform capabilities including multi-tenancy isolation, tenant-aware data partitioning, rate limiting, quota management, and resource fairness.
- Enforce AWS networking and security best practices involving VPC architecture, IAM, PrivateLink, Transit Gateway, and encryption.
- Lead infrastructure-as-code practices using Terraform and CDK and establish CI/CD standards for auditable deployments.
- Own runbook standards, on-call practices, incident management, post-incident reviews, and remediation of critical production issues.
- Mentor engineers, conduct rigorous design and code reviews, partner with product leadership, and contribute to recruiting and interviewing.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience with technical leadership on large-scale backend systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience designing and operating enterprise-grade SaaS or PaaS products with multi-tenancy, high availability, and operational reliability.
- Expert proficiency in Golang and extensive experience building production-grade gRPC microservices.
- Deep expertise in distributed systems, including consistency models, fault tolerance, service discovery, circuit breaking, and distributed tracing.
- Strong mastery of RESTful and gRPC API design, including versioning, backward compatibility, and API contract governance.
- Strong understanding of concurrent Golang programming, including goroutines, channels, synchronization primitives, and memory management.
- Hands-on experience designing and operating large-scale real-time streaming and batch data pipelines in production.
- Expert knowledge of AWS data pipeline services including Kinesis, Amazon MSK, AWS Glue, Step Functions, and EMR.
- Experience with Amazon S3, Redshift, Aurora/RDS, and DynamoDB.
- Deep AWS expertise, including high-availability and multi-AZ deployment architectures.
